Community Service - Shoe Boxes

We will be making 'Memory Boxes" for the elderly and those afflicted with Alzheimer's disease.  With this in mind can you please have the boys save their shoe box for this community service project. 

Please bring the shoe boxes to the first meeting on September 21st.

Webelo I & Webelo II Canoe Day

Canoe Day for the Webelo I & Webelo II will be Saturday, June 25 at 9:00 am till 12:00 pm.

Every scout and adult needs to provide their own vest style a lifejacket; age and weight appropriate; every child needs an adult partner.

Reminder Canoes do tip over:

Please do not bring electonics ie: cameras, cellphones, DS's. 

There will be a breif safety session before your canoe trip.

SCOUT NIGHT AT THE BROCKTON ROXS

Friday, August 5, 2011, 7:05 p.m.

$18.00 for the overnight, $10.00 for the game

included with both packages is a $5.00 food voucher for the game

as well as a fireworks show and a commemorative Scout Night Patch,

with the overnight you also get a post-game movie, camping in the outfield

and a breakfast snack in the morning.

Saturday, May 28, Flagging will start at 9AM at the Abigail Adams Cemetery. Scouts should wear either their uniform shirt or their blue Pack 2 T-shirt. This is a wonderful scouting tradition which the boys enjoy. Drinks and a snack will be provided after the flagging is completed.

All scouts should be at the Pingree School at 9AM (We are no longer be meeting at CVS) and be in full uniform. Please note that the streets are closed by the Weymouth Police at 9:30…be sure to have your son there early.

After the parade, the boys can be picked up behind the Abigail Adams Middle School.

May, 21 - Pack 2 Family Cookout - CANCELLED

Due to weather and site conditions, the Pack 2 Family Cookout at Valley Pines has been CANCELLED for Saturday, May 21st.


At this time, there will be no makeup date.

Early Registration

June 8th and 9th, 6PM to 8PM

The last opportunity for Early Registration for 2011-2012 (and to save $10) will be June 8th and June 9th at the Weymouth Heights Club from 6:30PM to 8PM. If paying by check, please make your check payable to "Pack 2". Early registration fees are $65 for each child that you are registering. This year there will be separate tables for registrations for returning scouts and new scouts.

Registration fees will be $75 after June 9th.

Valley Pines Family Cookout - Saturday, May 21, 2011

The Valley Pines Family Cookout is scheduled for this coming Saturday starting at 2PM. Valley Pines is located at 505 Grove Street in Norwell.

Due to the impending wet weather forecast for the week and the possible poor road conditions of the area and ensuing mosquito problems, the Cookout may be cancelled. The decision will be made Friday afternoon and notice will be emailed and posted to the website on Friday by 6PM. Please check your email or the blog before traveling to Valley Pines.
If the cookout is on, some information is below.

$5.00 per person or $20.00 per family. No charge for children 5 and under
Exact change is appreciated and will be collected car-side before parking.  Checks are accepted payable to "Pack 2". Please have your check ready.

If any families would like to bring a dessert, you are welcome to do so but it is optional. The kids will be decorating cupcakes as an activity and will be making smores (if you have any sticks at home to make the smores, we suggest that you bring them).

Early Registration

Register Early for the discounted rate of $65.00.

There will 2 Early Registration nights Wednesday June 8th and Thursday, June 9th at the Weymouth Heights Club from 6:30-8:00 pm

June 9th will be the last day for the discounted Early Registration fees.  After this date, registration for the 2011-2012 scouting year will be $75.00.  Sign up early and save $10!

Up Coming Events

May 21st - 2:00 PM - Family Cookout and Campout Valley Pines, Norwell, MA.  Lots of games and activities for families. Carpool if possible.

May 28th -9:00 AM - Flagging at the cemeery next to the Abigail Adams House.

May 30th - 9:00 AM - Memorial Day Parade. We meet at the CVS parking lot in Jackson Square in full uniform.

June 8th & 9th - Sign ups 6:30 - 8:00 Pack 2 Sign-ups at the Weymouth Heights Club

June 25th at - 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. -Canoe Day at Whitman's Pond for Webelos I & Webelos II.  Each Scout will need an adult partner.  Life preservers are Mandatory.

July 17th - Cliff Island Family day.  Cliff Island is on Newfound lake in Bristol, New Hampshire.

August (dates to be determined) - Brockton Rox sleepover.

Uno's Fundraiser - Thank you!

Thank you to all the families & friends that attended the Uno’s fundraiser on March 24.  We had a very successful event and enjoyed, great food and friends.

Blue and Gold was a BIG Success!

Pack 2 Weymouth held it's Annual Blue and Gold Banquet on Saturday, April 2nd at Immaculate Conception Parish Msgr. Hackett Center.  Boys moved up in every rank in the Pack.  We would like to wish the following boy congratulations on earning the Arrow of Light and crossing over to Troop 2:

Valley Pines - Fall, 2010

Last Fall the Pack enjoyed some time over at Valley Pines with our brother Troop 2. While we were there we hiked and had a WONDERFUL turkey dinner!

MANY HANDS MAKE FOR EASIER WORK! 

All parents are invited to come to the next planning meeting at the Weymouth Heights Club on Sunday, March 13th at 5:30PM. Refreshments will be served.

Pack 2 has significantly grown in the last few years and the future success of the pack depends on parent involvement. Leaders, assistants and planning committee members are all needed for the 2011-2012 Scouting year and beyond. We will be also be losing our Committee Chairman as of December this year (as his son moves to Boy Scouts) and he would like to be able to train someone starting in September.

Other positions will be opening in 2012 and it would be best to have those parents taking over those positions to be involved this coming year to work with the current person in that position.

Please come to the Weymouth Heights Club on Sunday for our March Planning Meeting and participate in the development of your son's future in Scouting.

The Webelos II scouts will be crossing over to Boy Scouts at the Blue and Gold dinner on April 2nd.

As a welcome to Troop 2, the future Boy Scouts are invited to attend the Boy Scout meeting on Monday, March 14th from 7:30PM to 9PM at the Weymouth Heights Club.

It is recommended that one parent attend this meeting with your scout.

Early Cub Scout Registration is 3/16 and 4/27 (only $55!)

Early Registration 2011-2012 - $55

Early registration for the 2011-2012 scouting season will be offered at the Pack Meetings on Wednesday, March 16th and Wednesday, April 27th.

There will also be Early Registration nights in early June. Dates to be announced.

Pack 2 Uno's Fundraiser - Braintree - Thursday, March 24th (all day!)

will be hosting an all-day fundraiser for

Pack 2 Weymouth.

20% of your check will be donated to Pack 2.

Donation tickets needed for the Pack to get credit. (See "tickets" at top of blog above)

This is a great event to get together with family and friends!

Pack 2 will be hosting the Blue and Gold Dinner on Saturday, April 2nd. All Pack 2 Scouts and their families are invited for a pasta dinner. What should you bring to dinner you ask? See below:

Tigers, Wolves and Webelo II Scouts are asked to bring bottled water and/or juice boxes for the dinner.

Webelo I and Bears are asked to bring desserts.

All other food will be provided by the pack. Your den leader can provide additional information.

Due to the significant increase in our pack size this year, we are expecting approx 400 people at the dinner. To help us get a good headcount and to make sure we buy the proper amount of food, we will be distributing tickets to each family. Your den leaders will have these tickets available starting the week of March 14th.

Assistance is also needed in setting up and cooking. More information on this will be provided at the pack meeting.

BALOO Adult Training

BALOO Training being offered in the Spring - BALOO - Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation for Cub Scout leaders is a one-day training event that introduces participants to the skills needed to plan and conduct Pack outdoor activities, particularly pack camping. This training is required for any adult who is in charge of planning a pack campout, and it is required that at least one adult per pack complete BALOO training in order to apply for tour permits. BALOO training is offered by individual districts.


OCC is offering BALOO Training on Apr 30 & again on May 7 (details to be announced)

Pack 2 January 2011 Update

Weigh ins for the Pinewood Derby cars will be Thursday, 1/27/11 and Friday, 1/28/11 from 6:00-7:30pm (weigh-in on Wednesday, 1/26 cancelled due to the storm!!)


Pinewood Derby Car Cutting:  1/13/11 and 1/14/11 David Chase will be cutting Pinewood Derby Cars at the Club House from 6:00pm-7:30pm

Pinewood Derby Sunday will be January 30th at 3:00 pm at First Church. Race times TBA.

Pack Meeting will be next Wednesday, January 19th from 5:45pm – 7:00 pm.

Disney on Ice Toy Story tickets will be available at the Pack Meeting. Tickets at $16/pp for the Friday, February 25th show at 7:00 pm.
